The Making Connections Award recognises a symposium that best creates a bridge across boundaries between individuals and groups, such as practitioners and academics.

The group impressed judges with the symposium proposal "How, Where, and Why Diversity Matters: A Contextualised Agenda for Future Research."

The symposium's overview noted the disconnect between practitioners and academics regarding the value of diversity. The symposium will be used to advance the idea that a deeper understanding of the contextual factors influencing diversity research and the complex relationships between diversity and organizational outcomes would bridge this divide.

Judges noted the winning symposium's themes were addressed from a broad, international perspective and could be used most successfully to bridge differences and make connections.

The Academy of Mangement is a leading professional association for academics, designed to create and disseminate knowledge about management and organisations.
