Paul Mazlin led a successful small business before enrolling in AGSM's MBA program last year. He hopes to move into management consulting upon completing his MBA - a field he says suits his need for variety.

Paul started Oracle Laser (a laser systems manufacturing and laser-display production company) in Sydney ten years ago which quickly expanded to include offices in Melbourne, Singapore and China.

He completed his undergraduate degree in Electrical Engineering at UNSW, and learned all his business skills on the job. His MBA studies are providing him with the knowledge he needs to move into a larger corporate environment.

“The MBA filled in my knowledge gaps and connected my previous experiences together, which has been fantastic. That’s why I came here for, and that’s what I've achieved out of it and I've had a really great time along the way,” he said.

When Paul started looking at management schools in Sydney AGSM came out on top. He says he found the academic rigour and the international reputation of AGSM superior to other Australian schools, and he considered the high entry requirements to AGSM a 'good insurance policy' to ensure studying with like-minded students..

“I wanted to work with a group of smart people, and a good insurance policy for that was the GMAT entrance exam.’

At the AGSM Careers Week late last year, Paul interviewed with representatives from a US-based multinational management consulting firm, and has since accepted a consulting position to start following his graduation in April 2007.
